What tests need to be done before the transplant surgery?

Before performing the hair transplant surgery, the following tests should be performed:
– blood counts,
– blood sugar level,
– blood coagulation test,
– general urinalysis,
– HBS study (concerning infectious jaundice),
– HCV test (indicating hepatitis C virus)
– HIV test

What are the contraindications for the procedure?

FUE hair transplantation is a procedure of low invasiveness, but it does not mean that it can be performed by any patient expressing such a need and willingness.
Hair transplant surgery should not be performed on patients who have problems:
– with blood clotting disorders, especially in the case of tendencies to excessive bleeding,
– with the right quality and quantity of the donation hair (i.e. taken from the occipital area)
– with the occurrence of inflammatory skin conditions,
– with unregulated blood pressure,
– suffer from advanced diabetes,
– suffer from alopecia areata,
– with poor general condition of the body,
– with the occurrence of allergies to local anesthetics used during the procedure.

Can all people who have problems with loss or lack of hair benefit from the hair transplant surgery?

Unfortunately, a hair transplant can not always be performed for every patient. There are many contraindications that disqualify the patient to perform a transplant. Contraindications include diseases such as active cancer, diabetes or cardiovascular diseases.
In addition, you do not transplant hair to people with alopecia areata, they tend to have thick scars or suffer from inflammation of the scalp.
Hair transplant treatments are also not performed in women with hormonal disorders. If they want to perform a transplant – they must first regulate the hormonal balance of their body. However, these cases are very rare and in the vast majority of patients there are no contraindications to transplantation.

Is hair transplantation only for men?

Hair transplants are performed for both men and women. Transplantation is a procedure dedicated to almost all people who face the problem of excessive hair loss regardless of gender. The basic and most common prerequisite, but not the only one – is androgenetic alopecia.
Each case is analyzed individually and always the final decision, qualifying the patient for surgery has the surgeon during a personal medical consultation. Patients aged between 25 and 65 are the most commonly used patients.

How long does the hair transplant surgery lasts?

The duration of the procedure is very diverse and depends on the individual case of each patient. The main parameter affecting the length of the procedure is primarily the number of grafts grafted (hair follicles). Patient’s preferences regarding the achievement of the final effect are also very important to us, which also determine the number of transplants to obtain the expected result.
Our patients usually spend about 6-8 hours on the procedure in our clinic. However, the time of the transplantation itself takes about 4-6 hours.
Our clinic is equipped with a special, hygienic and comfortable relaxation zone in which our patients have the possibility of relaxing rest while awaiting surgery or between transplant operations. We assure you that the whole procedure will take place in a nice and stress-free atmosphere for the patient.

Can I be balding again after the transplantation?

Hair transplantation made in our aesthetic medicine clinic – it suffices for the patient for a lifetime if the patient follows the recommendations. Thanks to the extensive transplantation experience and knowledge of Dr. Turkowski, the transplant is adapted with the highest efficiency and greatest aesthetic results on the market.

Is there a situation where the hair follicles may not be accepted?

By making a hair transplant, the patient’s own tissue is taken. This is called autologous transplant, which means that there is no possibility of recoil transplants.
However, there are several reasons why the transplanted hair may not grow. One of the most important are abnormal storage conditions of the hair follicles between the time of collection and implantation. That is when they are outside the patient’s skin. Wrong treatment of grafts – can cause damage or death, and as a result destroy hope for the success of the procedure.
Another reason that may be the reason for the failure of the procedure is too long. Exceeding a specific time of stay of transplants outside the patient’s skin may cause them to die and cease to be a valuable transplantation material. As we know, the bad “grain” will not give satisfactory crops. Such situations take place when the surgeons perform the procedure without experience. However, from our side, we assure you that our staff is well prepared and has rich, many years of experience. We therefore guarantee that this type of situation has never existed, and will never take place in our clinic. This is confirmed by the long-term lack of post-procedural complaints and numerous recommendations of satisfied patients.
Another reason for the lack of hair growth from implanted grafts is physical damage to the hair follicles during their collection or implantation in the skin’s receiving area. Only a professional surgeon is able to avoid such basic, but unfortunately frequent errors resulting from insufficient practice. We guarantee that the services in our clinic are at the highest level and you will not have any contact with these types of errors.
Erroneously diagnosed patients who have been overlooked by inflammation or other skin disease – may be at risk of dying or extinguishing of the implanted hair follicles. Of course, it brings with it the negative consequences of various complications and not getting the right effect that was expected by the patient. That is why it is so important to perform a series of tests before transplantation to eliminate all unnecessary risks for the patient.

Does the amount and density of hair in the delivery areas - affect the decision of the physician about the qualification for transplantation?

The answer is – of course, YES! This is one of the most important factors influencing the doctor’s assessment and decision about the patient’s qualification for hair transplantation.
During consultation with the patient, the doctor may state that he / she has insufficient amount / density of hair in the delivery areas and then has the right not to undertake a hair transplant. It should be remembered that the areas from which transplants are collected will be permanently deprived of parts of the bellows and surrounding tissues. Poor compaction with the patient’s neighboring hair area may be disqualifying.
There are also other cases in which the doctor may refuse to undertake the procedure. If we use the example of a patient who suffers, for example, some form of baldness, characterized by hair loss, leaving scars on the sides and back of the head – then we realize that there are other diseases that unfortunately can prevent us from undergoing a hair transplant.
However, if you have healthy hair and you do not suffer from any disease, you do not have to worry that taking the hair follicles in the FUE method will leave unsightly “clearances” on your skin. The receiving area is well-furred so that you will not see any cavities. – assures Dr. Turkowski

Does taking into account the natural direction of hair growth during the hair transplant determines the quality of the treatment and does it affect the final aesthetic effect of the transplantation?

Because the hair on our heads grows in different directions, it is very important to implant them according to their natural growth direction during the transplant surgery. If the surgeon does not adhere to this rule – the transplanted hair will be distinguished among the others and it will not bring a nice, aesthetic and expected effect.

Does the type of the patient's hair - affect the result of the transplant?

Hair transplantation consists of hiding bare skin by implanting the hair follicles it has taken. All people have hair characterized by the same structure and functionality, however, we can distinguish different types of them, in terms of their aesthetic and visual properties, eg determined by racial features.
Stiff hair has a larger volume than delicate hair. Therefore, they can be used much less during transplantation, and they will cover hair losses very effectively and effectively. However, delicate hair will have less effective camouflage of bare spots on the skin, but they will look more natural. For transplants, wavy and curling hair will also perform well because they curl spontaneously and cover larger areas of cavities. In addition, they stand out more than the scalp, giving the effect of a larger volume than straight hair – flat lying on the scalp and giving the impression of a rarer hairstyle.
We ensure, however, that a professional and experienced surgeon – which undoubtedly is Dr. Turkowski, regardless of the type of hair with which he will perform the transplant – can apply appropriate treatment techniques and select the appropriate number of grafts – that every patient will come out of our clinic satisfied.

How much does a hair transplant cost?

The price of hair transplantation in our clinic starts from PLN 15 for a transplant, with a larger treatment the price is lower for one graft PLN. The price of the procedure is determined during the consultation meeting with the doctor. The final amount is influenced by: the size of the recipient area (the place of baldness), the amount of hair follicles that will be transplanted and the surgeon’s working time.
The selection of the number of grafts grafted is individual and also results from personal preferences, possibilities of the donation area and patient’s needs. The average number of hair follicles that our doctors transplant during the standard procedure is about 1000 – 2000 grafts.
It is worth emphasizing the value of dr Turkowski’s rich transplantation practice, thanks to which the patient can be sure that he will receive the highest quality service and achieve the best results of the surgery performed on the market, confirmed by many references.
The type of hair of the patient will also affect the price. Thick and curly hair can cover the scalp better than thin and straight hair. Therefore, reconstructing hair in an area of similar size in two different people can be associated with quite different costs.
We would like to draw your attention to not being guided by the cheapest treatment price when choosing a clinic. Cheaply made hair transplants – it may not give the right effects or be the beginning of dangerous complications, and damaged grafts are never able to be recovered.

Is the procedure painful?

Because the FUE method does not use a scalpel and does not sew the scalp like in the case of the STRIP method – the regeneration time is much shorter and less painful. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so the patient does not feel pain.
The FUE method is currently the least invasive method of hair transplantation in the world. During the procedure, only single bands are collected, with the minimum area of the surrounding skin tissue and the tools used for this, have a very small diameter, ie about 0.7-1.0 mm, so interference in the patient’s skin is minimal.
After the surgery – it is also recommended to take anti-inflammatory medications and antibiotics, and it is suggested to avoid exposure of the scalp to the sun’s rays. It is also advisable to not perform intense physical exercise.

How many hair follicles can be transplanted during the procedure?

The skin of the human head has different zones of differentiation in terms of the resistance of the hair follicles to the damaging effects of DHT (Dihydrotestosterone). He is one of the male sex hormones, so-called androgen hormone, which plays a key role in the process of androgenetic alopecia.
For example, the hairs in the back of the head are not so susceptible to the destructive and destructive effects of the DHT hormone – like the hair from around the bends or the top of the head.
Because the distinction between the areas of the scalp has been made – for safe areas, i.e. those that are not exposed to the risk of hair loss in the future, and those which unfortunately undergo the destructive effects of the hormone – extraction (removal) of genetically resistant bellows from safe and implanted areas is carried out them in places where hair loss or miniaturization occurs.
Transplanted hair follicles, implanted in the recipient area – do not fall out, because despite the change of location and placement in conditions where they would normally be affected by the hormone DHT and miniaturization – they retained immunity to the hormone resulting from the preservation of their physical structure from the donor site.
It is therefore a great skill to distinguish these places by the surgeon and to choose only those grafts that come only from areas that are safe and resistant to DHT.
The ability to make the right choice – in connection with the hair transplantation – thus has a very large impact on the quality of the service provided, the longevity of the surgery and the final visual effect – emphasizes Dr. Turkowski.
We also ensure that our team prepares the transplant material at the highest level, guaranteeing the growth and life of the transplanted hair – for many years.
A safe number of collected donors from the donor area (during one treatment) – a number of maximum 2,200 – 2,700 grafts. Of course, you can make a larger number of follicles picks – however, it may damage neighboring hair follicles and carry the risk of unsightly “thinning”.
However, if we overdo it with the amount of hair transplants taken and get them from the scalp – too much – we can lead to a situation where the donor area will be so “depleted” and destroyed that it will not guarantee the proper quality of the material – in case the need for another transplant in the future.

Will scars be visible after hair transplantation?

Hair transplantation is a procedure that may involve scarring. However, we would like to reassure you that they were very visible in the method, which is now rarely used – and this was so-called STRIP method, which left a long, disfiguring, linear scar.
Currently, in our clinic we use the most modern hair transplant method – FUE (without the use of a scalpel), which is the least invasive in the history of transplant history. Postoperative microscars, which are remnants of FUE transplants – they are practically invisible to the naked eye and give the comfort of wearing short hair.

There is such an unwritten rule in the aesthetic medicine industry – that if we are able to see whether someone has had a hair transplant – it means that it was not made according to the art and the highest aesthetic standards.
There are a number of reasons that could have influenced the achievement of this artificial effect. Most likely, the procedure was performed by a physician who has not yet gained adequate experience. We ask you to consider the treatment clinic prudently – because it will be more beneficial for you if the doctor will not experiment and gain experience on your heads.
The best choice will be to use the services of our clinic – which is a place that has been checked and recommended by thousands of people. We warmly invite you. We provide comfort, a sense of security and full predictability of the best aesthetic effects. Avoid unpleasant disappointments – because we surprise with only desirable results.
