Needle mesotherapy of the scalp is one of the most popular aesthetic medicine treatments. It involves injecting therapeutic substances into the areas affected by the condition. Delivering the medication through a fine needle is the most commonly used method – needle mesotherapy has proven the highest effectiveness and provides faster results.

Needle mesotherapy – what is it?

When scalp care prevention begins early enough, visible reduction of hair loss can already be observed after the very first session of needle mesotherapy. This is directly related to the therapeutic substances themselves, which act only on still-living hair follicles.

Scalp mesotherapy

Needle mesotherapy of the scalp is one of the fastest methods to prevent excessive hair loss. For people already struggling with alopecia – especially women – the effects may take several weeks to appear. This depends primarily on the structure of the hair (appropriate diagnostic tests are performed before treatment), the effectiveness of the selected preparation, and adherence to the doctor’s recommendations.

What does the needle mesotherapy procedure look like?

The needle mesotherapy procedure is performed using a syringe with a very fine needle (approx. 0.5–1.5 cm) or a special mesotherapy gun. Most commonly, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is injected. After the treatment, marks remain on the skin in the form of small dots or a grid – depending on the technique used. Post-treatment marks may remain visible for 6 to 72 hours, depending on the preparation administered.

The injections are not painful. If the patient has a low pain threshold, local anesthesia in the form of a spray or cream may be applied. After needle mesotherapy, a massage is performed to evenly distribute the injected ingredients throughout the skin. They remain active even for a month after the treatment.

The results require patience. The therapy consists of 2 phases:

  1. intensive treatment (1 session per week for 2 months),
  2. maintenance (1 session per month for 3 to 6 months).
