What does a hair transplant consist of?

Hair transplantation is a technique that is performed on both sexes to add more hair to the scalp. The procedure is nothing more than harvesting hair follicles from the donor area and implanting them in the recipient area.

Modern medicine usually uses the FUE hair transplant technique, which has the advantage of leaving no visible scars on the skin. This is at the same time the most modern and effective method of hair transplantation. The doctor takes the hair follicles along with the tissue and applies them to the site of the hair deficiency. FUE guarantees high efficiency and safety because it uses only the patient’s own hair. As a result, the risk of the body rejecting the transplant is virtually non-existent.

Nowadays, the DHI technique is also used, which allows full control of the depth, direction, angle of the growing hair. During the procedure, the doctor uses a small point needle to make micro-punctures – punches.

What affects the price of a hair transplant?

The scope and price of hair transplantation are determined individually for each patient. For this purpose, it analyzes, among other things:

  • Extent of hair loss,
  • The structure of the hair and the multiplicity of hair follicles,
  • Expected aesthetic result,
  • Course of alopecia,
  • The transplantation method chosen.

How much does a hair transplant cost in Poland?

Due to the nature of hair transplantation, its price is quite high, but it does not exceed the costs incurred for other aesthetic medicine procedures (such as breast augmentation or nose correction). The cost of hair transplantation depends on the number of grafts transplanted and the technique chosen. However, it always ranges between PLN 10,000 and PLN 35,000. Such a discrepancy is due to the fact that each patient is different and different numbers of hair follicles are transplanted into the recipient area.

So if the trichologist, during the consultation, determined that the amount of burrs needed is 3,000, add up the cost of the first 1,000 grafts, the next 1,000 and the next 1,000 grafts. One graft usually costs about 15 zlotys, but this cost can also vary depending on the sum of hair follicles transplanted in the procedure – the more follicles there are, the price also decreases. Check the current price list for hair transplantation.

Typically, the costs are as follows:

  • Examination for hair transplantation procedure – cost 360 PLN
  • Small hair transplant (bends, lowering of hairline – up to 1,000 grafts) – cost up to PLN 15,000

The specialist will discuss possible contraindications to hair transplantation, conduct a thorough interview, present the steps of the procedure and the possible results. The price of such a consultation costs approx. PLN 330, but this cost is usually already included in the price of the procedure.

The financial outlay to undergo a hair transplant includes:

  • Remuneration for the physician performing the procedure,

Reputable clinics additionally offer hair transplants using the innovative Artas robot. However, this device means a slightly higher price for the treatment – approx. PLN 40,000. As the cost increases, so does the safety and effect of the treatment. However, the total price may increase if the patient needs to supplement the therapy with additional treatments that will accelerate skin regeneration – laser therapy, hyaluronic acid injection, Dr. Cyj’s preparation, etc.

Does the National Health Service reimburse hair transplants?

The National Health Service only covers the cost of hair transplantation into the scar area. Patients who are deprived of hair on their heads as a result of injuries or burns can expect to be reimbursed for the procedure. That’s why it is much more popular to offer hair transplantation in private clinics. In these places, the availability of appointments is much greater. In addition, reputable clinics use modern equipment and treatment techniques, which increases the success of treatment.

How long do the effects of a hair transplant last?

The initial results after hair transplantation can make patients start thinking about the failure of the treatment. This is because the hair will fall out first, creating the illusion of no results. However, this is a completely natural and normal phenomenon, and Patients should not be too hasty in making a diagnosis. It is not until two weeks after the procedure that hair begins to grow back permanently. After 3 – 4 months, you can already see 20% of the hair growing back. Another 60-70% grow back after 8 months.

However, a final evaluation of the procedure is not possible until after a year. During this time, hair should be properly cared for and groomed, following the doctor’s recommendations. The results also depend on the specialist who performs the hair transplant. He should properly design the new hairline to resemble the natural one as much as possible.
