A hair mask should be selected depending on the type of hair. A slightly different mask should be chosen for oily hair, and a different one for very damaged hair. But, what kind of hair masks are worth using?
Intensively moisturizing mask
Hair masks, also those that are made at home, have various uses. That is why it is worth knowing how the individual ingredients of the mask work. In case of hair, with a tendency to dry out, it is worth using deeply moisturizing hair masks. These include masks made out of avocado, honey and grape seed oil. Avocados contain polyunsaturated acids, which perfectly smooth the hair structure. Grape seed oil, on the other hand, is rich in linoleic acid, which has remarkable moisturizing properties. Thanks to the richness of silicon, copper and zinc, honey will strengthen the hair follicles. To make the mask, the only thing that has to be done is to crush one avocado with one tablespoon of grape seed oil and a teaspoon of honey. Simply apply the prepared mask to the entire length of the hair. After about 30 minutes, wash the mask off with a shampoo.
Another suggestion for a hair moisturizing mask is an egg yolk mask. The mask deeply moisturizes the hair and nourishes it. To prepare the mask, you will need 2 egg yolks, vitamin E and 2 tablespoons of kerosene. All ingredients should be thoroughly combined and left for about 10 minutes. After this time, the mask is ready to be applied. It should be applied to the entire length of the hair. After applying the mask, the hair should be wrapped in a foil cap or a towel. After 30 minutes, the mask can be washed off.
Moisturizing masks should be used at least once a week. By using a hair mask regularly, you will be able to see visible changes in the condition of your hair.
A mask that regenerates and strengthens the hair
If case the hair is thin and damaged by everyday styling, it is worth using masks based on nourishing and regenerating ingredients, which will not only improve the condition of the hair, but also strengthen it. An example of such a mask is a linseed mask, which is rich in vitamin E, potassium, proteins and zinc. Thanks to these ingredients, your hair will be nourished and strengthened. The mask is very easy to prepare. Simply boil ¼ cup of linseed in a glass of water for about 10 minutes. After this time, the mask should get a gel like consistency. It should be strained through a strainer and let it cool dow a bit. Apply the prepared and cooled down mask to the entire length of the hair and scalp. The mask should be on the hair for at least 20 minutes. After this time, you can rinse it off and wash your hair with shampoo.
The mask made of natural yoghurt, wheat germ oil and lemon juice also shows intense regenerating properties. We mix 3 tablespoons of natural yoghurt, a few drops of oil and a teaspoon of squeezed lemon juice. After mixing the ingredients thoroughly, apply the mask to the hair and leave it for at least 15 minutes.
Mask for hair loss
If you notice increased hair loss, it is worth using masks based on black cumin oil, coconut oil and castor oil. The first mask, that will strengthen the hair, is a mask based on black cumin oil, which is a valuable source of fatty acids, potassium, copper, zinc, iron and calcium. To make the mask, you will need 20 g of black cumin oil, 20 g of henna powder and 60 g of wine vinegar. All ingredients are mixed and applied to the hair and scalp. The mask should stay on the hair for at least an hour. After that, it should be washed off.
Rubbing black cumin oil into the scalp is equally beneficial. You can also use it as a hair oil. For this purpose, we apply black cumin oil to the scalp as well as the entire length of the hair. Then, wrap your hair with a cling film and a towel, and leave the mask on overnight. Wash it off in the morning with a shampoo.
Coconut oil is another ingredients for a home mask, that contains many vitamins and substances valuable for healthy hair growth. You will also need aloe vera to prepare the coconut oil mask. Thanks to this combination, our hair remains moisturized. Mix 3 tablespoons of coconut oil with 1 tablespoon of aloe. We put the resulting mask on our hair and leave it for 30 minutes. Then wash the mask off. Coconut oil can also be used as a hair mask without mixing it with other ingredients. Moreover, by applying it only to the tips, they will regenerate and not split as much.
It is also worth preparing a mask made out of castor oil, which accelerates hair growth, strengthens the hair follicles and reduces hair loss. For this hair mask, we need 1 egg yolk, a tablespoon of castor oil and a tablespoon of olive oil or kerosene. The ingredients should be mixed and applied to the hair. It’s a good idea to put on a foil cap or wrap your hair in cling film. The mask should remain on the hair for at least an hour. After that, it can be washed off. During the last rinse of hair, it is worth adding lemon juice or apple cider vinegar.
Homemade hair masks should be used at least once a week. However, the frequency of their use should depend primarily on the condition of the hair. If they are very damaged or dry, it is worth using the appropriate mask even 3 times a week.
